Elsa Mattson, an 11th grade student, received first place in the 9th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students (Preliminary) on March 11, 2016, at UCA. Jacob Scott, a 10th grade student, and Rosa Alba, an 11th grade student, both got the Honorable Prize in the contest.
Eleven contestants from five high schools in Arkansas participated in the contest. Elsa will represent Secondary School Chinese Learners in Arkansas and will go to Dallas in April to join the final contest. Contestants who place first and second will go to China this summer to experience authentic Chinese culture and food.
Congratulations to Key Club for representing Conway High School and the Kiwanis family well at the Missouri - Arkansas District Leadership Conference last weekend in Springfield, Missouri. Key Club earned a Public Relations Award, 2nd Place for Single Service Project, and 1st Place for Digital Poster, designed by Editor, Lauren Campbell. Reilly Mullaney received a certificate and was honored as Conway High School's Member of the Year during the opening night slide show.
After a decade of waiting, the Conway High School Tug-of-War is back! The Career Center will be hosting the Tug of War tournament on March 18th at the Conway High School football field. During the week of March 18th, students can purchase tickets for $1 and will get out of class after 2nd lunch to watch. Concessions will be available and prizes will be given out to spectators. All proceeds will benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Follow the brackets and cheer on your favorite team!

Congratulations to the CHS debate and forensics team members who competed recently at the state Arkansas Mock Trial tournament sponsored by the Arkansas Bar Association. CHS fielded 2 teams: CHS Blue Team and CHS White Team. They did a wonderful job representing CHS at their first Mock Trial competition, taking on the roles of attorneys and witnesses. The teams prepared both prosecution and defense cases for a fictional trial which they deliberated in front of actual judges and lawyers at the Federal Court House and Pulaski County Courthouse in Little Rock. Students prepared these cases with the guidance of their attorney coach, Matt Brown. The CHS White Team finished 8th out of 27 teams and the Blue Team finished 11th! All Mock Trial team members are students in Mrs. Casey Griffith's debate and forensics classes.
Congratulations to Michaela Boothby, Hidaya Cummings, Lauren Campbell, and Ryan Frizell. These Juniors have been chosen as Conway High School's 2016 delegates to Arkansas Girls and Boys State.
American Legion Auxiliary Girls State educates young women of high school age in the duties, privileges, and responsibilities of American citizenship and to provide an opportunity for them to participate in the actual function of their government. This year's Arkansas Girls State will be held May 29-June 3 at Harding University in Searcy.
Arkansas Boys State is is an immersive program in civics education designed for high school juniors. For over 75 years the week-long camp has shaped the lives of notable leaders such as Apollo 11 Astronaut Neil Armstrong, President Bill Clinton, Basketball Super Star Michael Jordan, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, News Anchor Tom Brokaw, and current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. This year's Arkansas Boys State will be held May 29-June 3, 2016 at the University of Central Arkansas.
Congratulations to the following students for their success at the Regional History Day competition, held on Saturday, March 5th at Conway Jr. High.
These students will advance to State History Day competition at UCA on April 16th, with an opportunity to advance to national competition in Washington, D.C.
Conway High School Model United Nations team members competed at the Model Arab League Conference March 4-5 at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and won numerous awards.
Congratulations to the CHS Forensics team who brought home 1st place for their Words & Music entry at the Searcy High School Forensics & Debate tournament! They performed The Telephone Hour from the musical Bye Bye Birdie. Students are in Forensics I at classes at CHS taught by Mrs. Casey Griffith. This 1st place award has qualified them to compete at the state Tournament of Champions in April where they will vie to become state champions.

Congratulations to the CHS Forensics & Debate Teams for their accomplishments at the Cabot High School forensics and debate tournament! Bringing home awards were Mary Nail (1st place Original Oratory, 4th place Prose), Mathias Ferrence (2nd place US Extemporaneous Speaking), Yessica Serrano (6th place Poetry), and Trey Smith (1st place International Extemporaneous Speaking).
